Interact helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities develop the skills necessary for daily life through its Activity Center located in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. Our day services program operates Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm. A minimum of one direct service worker for every six participants is present at all times while participants are in the Center. Community integrated activities are offered in smaller groups with closer supervision.
People who attend the Activity Center come from a variety of residential living arrangements – some live at home with their families, while others live in community homes supported by Interact or by other provider agencies. While most of the people who receive services at our Activity Center live in Northwest Philadelphia, attendance is open to all who are approved for these state-funded services. Choice of Supervised Activities and Classes
Activities include both in-house and community-based opportunities and range from exercise and arts & crafts to self-care classes to recreational outings. Participants have a choice of activities to select from as well as the option to attend the Center on a part-time or full-time basis, depending upon their needs. There are plenty of chances for people to make friends while having fun at the same time! To see our monthly newsletter, which contains our activities calendar, click here.
Individuals may also choose to participate in both the Center’s activities and in our Employment Program at the same time. We also offer help with resume writing and mock job interviews to those who are interested. For more information on our employment supports, click here.
