My name is Cyndee Wishkovsky, the Vice President of Aging at Journey’s Way, a division of Intercommunity Action in Philadelphia. I have been an advocate for program development for the aging population for over 40 years and as I vitally age in place (along with the many participants of our programs). Journey’s Way is a forward thinking organization that has been addressing the issues of aging in community since 1972. Our services include a Center, Adult Day Services Center, Geriatric Mental Health programs and Housing Counseling and affordable housing with services – all geared to people ages 55+. Programs of interest can include a broad range of educational, life affirming programs of arts and introspection, and health and social service information for older people and their families.
Health and wellness is foremost in our thinking, both in our center and adult day center. Fitness and strength building can start at any age and is a huge assistance to managing pain, decreasing depression, and improving quality of life – all foundations for maintaining independence.
This blog will be a regular communications tool to let the community know about issues and concerns of aging – here and around the world. Journey’s Way regularly connects with other experts and as we connect and reflect we will try to engage our community on these issues through this blog.
