PURPOSE:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatric Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our outpatient community mental health center. Under the direction of the Medical Director, the CNA will provide comprehensive care and support to children and adults receiving outpatient psychiatric services.
FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist in the implementation of care plans for people with mental health diagnoses.
2. Take vital signs and make note of any changes.
3. Observe and report any changes in a patient’s condition, such as skin color, mental status, or behavior.
4. Ensure client areas are clean, organized, and safe.
5. Immediately alert medical staff if a client appears to be at risk of harming themselves or others.
6. Provide administrative support to the Medical Director, ensuring the psychiatry department is fully stocked with all medical supplies and forms.
7. Helps with the setup and maintenance of basic equipment.
8. Coordinate neuroimaging and lab requests, which includes monitoring and recording results in the client’s chart, as well as notifying prescriber.
9. Function as the authorized clozapine prescriber designee, providing close oversight and monitoring in compliance with the Clozapine REMS Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy).
10. Assist medical team with coordinating and completing pre-authorizations for prescribed medications.
11. Support medical team with making phone calls to coordinate care. This may include, but is not limited to pharmacies, primary care physicians, insurance, etc.
12. Maintain patient records and documentation in accordance with State regulations, Agency policies and procedures and managed health care requirements.
13. Interacts with clients and other staff in a positive, constructive and professional manner.
14. Complete all mandatory training to maintain state, CBH, and NIAC credentialing.
15. Must function in full compliance with all applicable policies and procedures, federal state and local laws and Interact’ s Code of Conduct.
16. Must participate in Interact’ s Compliance Program including reporting suspected violations of the compliance program or applicable laws or regulations to supervisor/manager/director or the Compliance Officer.
17. Maintain necessary clearances, continuing education, licenses, and certifications to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Completion of a state-approved CNA certification course.
3. Two years’ experience in psychiatric or mental health setting preferred.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
5. Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure in crises.
6. Clearance in accordance with PA Acts 33 & 80.
